Necessary for all new clients. This appointment lasts 60 minutes. During the conversation, Dr McHugh will ask many questions about your health and personal history, as well as your current emotional health concerns. An initial Q&A style conversation allows Dr McHugh to gather a lot of information upfront, so that future appointments can focus on the specific needs and goals you have for your mental wellness.
When people have one or two straightforward health concerns, a typical follow up appointment lasts about 20 minutes. Generally, these shorter appointments work well for people who are already regularly seeing a counselor, and who prefer to meet with Dr. McHugh just for medical check-ins and prescription refills.
A typical visit with Dr. McHugh involves medical review as well as discussion about social and lifestyle matters that may be affecting optimal mental health. In order to have meaningful conversations and develop comprehensive treatment plans, an hour appointment is recommended.
You may need letters, reports, or other documents during your care. You may also have need to communicate with Dr. McHugh outside of regularly scheduled appointment times. Matters that take longer than a few minutes to resolve will incur a fee.
Dr McHugh does not bill insurance. Payment is expected on the day of services, and a credit card on file is requested.
After your appointments with Dr. McHugh, the appointment will be charged to your card on file. You can find your receipt in your patient portal, “Onpatient”.
The receipt is called a Superbill. Download the Superbill to your phone or computer.
once you have your superbill, go to your insurance website. If you have created an account with your insurance website, you can upload the superbill online. If you do not have an account you may still locate the necessary form for submitting the superbill by mail.
Once your insurance receives the receipt, they will reimburse you for a portion of your appointment with Dr. McHugh.
While all insurance plans are different, most commercial plans will reimburse you for 50%-80% of the cost of your appointment. Please check your individual plan for how much they pay for “Out of Network” medical providers.
Each insurance plan is different. If you would like to submit your receipt to your insurance plan, you may access your receipts through OnPatient. Contact your insurance plan directly for receipt submission information.
